Farm sales in Co Durham and Cambridgeshire
Two similar sized but very different holdings offer good commercial prospects in the North and East of England.
Newlands Grange, at Shotley Bridge, County Durham, includes 322 acres of Grade 3 mixed farmland and a cottage with stabling and paddocks.
Agent Iain Welsh of Smiths Gore said: “The sale represents a rare opportunity in the region to acquire a substantial block of level and productive arable, grass and woodland together with an attractive three-bed cottage offering scope for improvement but also the possibility of creating a farm.”
Mr Welsh expected strong interest from local farmers, contractors and possibly investors. Newlands Grange is available as whole, with a guide price of ÂŁ1.875m, or in five lots.
A 344-acre mixture of restored and virgin arable land, grassland, several lakes and a three-bedroom dwelling for renovation or replacement is for sale near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.
Knobbs Farm, Somersham, is guided at ÂŁ1.4m by joint agents Savills and Alexanders, the equivalent of ÂŁ4,057/acre overall. With good-quality agricultural land in the locality selling for at least ÂŁ9,000/acre, Adrian Wilson of Savills described the sale as a fantastic opportunity.
“After a number of years as a working quarry the site is now restored to agriculture, lakes and amenity land.
“With potential for the original farmhouse to be redeveloped, now is a suitable opportunity to complete the next phase in the development of the farm.” (Alexanders 01480 432 220; Savills 01223 347 000)
