British Blue bulls sell to 5,000gns in Carlisle
Topping trade at the Border British Blue club’s annual autumn show and sale, Borderway Mart, Carlisle, last week (Friday 2 October) was the reserve male and reserve supreme champion at 5,000gns.
Whitestone Jackpot, a February 2014 son of Tweeddale Ebony (SR) is out of Three Ways Freya and was bred and exhibited by GA and EJ Davies, Brynawel, Llandysul, Ceredigion. The successful purchaser was JA Wood and Sons, Kinnerton Hall Farm, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Next best was Stonebyres Imp, a November 2013 son of Boothlow Dynamo, out of the Ballygrange Alex daughter, Stonebyres Fifi, and bred and exhibited by Blair and Shona Comrie, Stonebyres Mains, Lanark. He was knocked down for 4,200gns to TW and J Hunter, Upper Brydekirk, Annan, Dumfriesshire.
Next in the price ratings was Abington Ivan ET, out of the Bluegrass Cyclone (SR) ET and Abington Carol ET flush, from Ian McGarva, Abington, Lanark. Ivan found a new home with WR and JM Cowx and Son, Hudscales, Hesket new Market, at 4,000gns.
Purchasing the female champion Newroddige Jemima for 3,800gns was SJ Balfour, Fodderletter, Timintoul. This March 2014 born heifer is out of a Mountjoy Utopia and Tamhorn Foxtail Lily ET flush. She was bred and exhibited by Mallaber and Wyllie, Nr. Tamworth, Staffs.
