Cattle to feature in main hall at Livestock Event 2013

Cattle will be incorporated into the main exhibit hall for the first time at this year’s Livestock Event at the NEC Birmingham on 3 and 4 July.

Rather than being housed in the standalone exhibit hall away from the main trade stands, the National Dairy Show, with stall places for 240 head of cattle, will be relocated into one of the main trade halls.

This hall will also feature the British Charolais Cattle Society’s national show, with stalls for 80 entries along with other beef and also sheep breed societies, plus the New Smithfield seminars. The genetics zone featuring all the key suppliers will be located in the adjoining trade hall.

Nick Everington, chief executive of event organiser the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, says: “Relocating the livestock exhibitors and their cattle to the heart of the event will enhance the overall visitor experience, while the temperature controlled buildings will ensure a first-class environment for all.”

He adds: “The new arrangement will provide all exhibitors with the opportunity to show their cattle in what is the best equipped and most easily accessed venue in the UK. Furthermore, pedigree dairy breeders will have the chance to parade their entries to an audience representing approximately 80% of the UK’s dairy cows, by far the largest attending any UK agricultural event this year.”
