Dungannon Charollais sell to 3000gns highlight
Ram lambs sold to a top call of 3000gns at the recent Northern Ireland Charollais Sheep Club sale at Dungannon as pedigree and commercial men fought to secure the tups on offer.
Heading the sale was Sidney Corbett with a lamb from his Drumsallagh flock by his imported French sire J17. This one sold in a two way split to Robert Gregory, Shropshire, and David Mawhinney, Newtonards.
Selling at 1900gns were Drew and Stephen Cowan with their shearling by Tullyear Egbert selling to Cumbria-based breeder Jonathan Wales. The same vendor then sold at 1350gns for another shearling by Egbert. He sold to Stewartstown-based George Hammond for his Ballymaguire flock.
Norman McCordie, Riverdale, then took the next best call of 1150gns for a triplet son of Rutland Humdinger. This one joined Jonathan O’Loan’s Martinstown flock. And at just 50gns less was the pre-sale champion from William McAllister’s Artnagullion flock. This one was a Loaning Foot Highlander son and sold to Edward Buckley, County Cork.
Reserve champion and next best call went to Jonathan Aiken with another Highlander son which sold to County Cork-based Jim Jeffery. A full ET brother to this one then sold at the same money to Aidan Brannagan, Newry.
Averages; 19 shearling rams ÂŁ578.55, 67 ram lambs ÂŁ544.95 (Dungannon Farmers Mart).
