This third calver was paraded by top breeder and showman Mark Nutsford of the Riverdane Holsteins who owns her in partnership with Stephen Bell and Anthony Grimshaw. By Durham and out of the top cow MS Kingstead Chief Adeen, she was champion at Agriscot last November and was giving just over 50 litres on the day.

“She is one of the best cows I have ever seen and I knew that from the moment I set eyes on her,” said Mark Nutsford who bought her mid-way through her second lactation.

“To have won this title under Barclay Phoenix, one of the world’s most respected Holstein judges, is an outstanding achievement but we always felt she was destined for the top,” said Mark.

The reserve Holstein Grand Champion title also went to an entry from the Riverdane team with their Willsbro Berdina Howie, winner of the four-year-old class and out of Stanhope Berdina Astre.

The Ayrshire junior championship – the breed’s top award on the day – went to Syke Glencairn Lolita, an in-calf heifer owned by R and W Templeton, Glencairn Ayrshires and Rory Timlin.  The maiden heifer Syke Burdette Sybil from the Templetons stood reserve.
