Leek dairy trade hits £2000 twice

Prices at this week’s dairy sale at Leek reached a high of £2000 on twice, with a brace of heifers making this money.

First at this price was am Aflrag Juror Kendall daughter from Tony Critchlow, Stanton. She sold to Phillip and John Browne, Stone.

The other at this price was Gadston Modesto Baby from Messrs Gadsbey, Yarlet. Sired by Sikkema-Stasr-W Modesto she is out of an Ex 90 dam and sold to Robert Backhouse, Leigh, Uttoxeter.

A pair also sold at £1960. The first was Dovetrent Thadee Judy 126 from Messrs Holdcroft, Newton Solney. She came from a line including an eight lactation Ex93 grand dam and sold to Messrs Ede, Tean. At the same price was an unregistered heifer from the Johnson family, Longnor. She was also bought by Mr Backhouse.

Averagesl 1st quality heifers £1880. 2nd quality heifers £1579, 1st quality cows £1730, 2nd quality cows £149 (leekauctions).
