President’s Medal for Carlisle breeder

THE WINNER of this year’s Holstein UK President’s Medal for young breeders, presented at the Semex conference, is Ian Hodgson from Burgh by Sands, Carlisle.

Mr Hodgson, 27, works on the family farm in north Cumbria, managing the Holmeden herd and has experience of USA herds.

He has been an active member of the Border and Lakeland young breeders’ club for many years, and in 2004 he was the mature winner in the Royal Show stockjudging competition.
