Software to help flock health plans
FLOCK HEALTH planning has entered the convenience era, with the launch of computer software designed to take producers and their vets logically through essential management and preventative treatment programmes.
The new software, developed by the Sheep Vet Society (SVS), will run alongside the existing British Cattle Vet Association herd health planning program, explains SVS president Brian Hosie.
As well as planning for future treatments, the program has been written to record flock productivity to show disease incidence and the progress being made in reducing disease costs.
FREE INSTALLATION of a 2500 pig unit monitoring system for temperature, feed and water supply is being offered to one UK farm by control specialists Farmex.
In return the farm will be expected to assist with commercial development and demonstration of the system, without risks to biosecurity. Farmex’s Hugh Crabtree reckons the system could produce savings of 5p/kg on finished pigs (0118 986 7252).
