Lleyns to 10,400gns at Ruthin

Lleyn breeders were in fine form at Ruthin on Monday, with a top price of 10,400gns paid for a shearling ram from Roger and Helen Wells, Glaneri.Ruthin - Roger Wells with the top priced ram at 10400gns web.jpg

This was Rawelen Nick Nack, a Penywern Squinty son which sold to G O Williams, Bro Aled, Corwen. Other highlights in the males included a 2900gns sale for the pre-sale male champion from the Bennett family. This one sold to J Patrick, Omagh.

Top price in the females was a £340/head bid for the second prize shearling ewes from Charles Sackville Hamilton which sold to Linda Barnard. The next best was a £330 bid for the female champions, another pen of shearling ewes from the Bennetts. The also went to Linda Barnard. Overall the shearling ewe average rose by more than £35 on the year, with the ram average rising by more than £165 on last year’s sale.
