Decade of service for Landia pumps
Submersible pumps, which were installed at Shropshire producer Oaklands Farm Eggs, have been operational for ten years without breaking say Landia, the company that manufactured them.
Oaklands’ 11 pumps take chicken manure from a reception pit to storage containers. The devices work by “chopping” manure into smaller pieces before it reaches the pumps’ inlet.

They have been in continual operation since 2002, and are regularly serviced by Danish firm Landia. Oaklands has an automated packing line that can take an egg from a laying shed, process it, and load it onto lorry within three hours, without it ever touching a human hand. The unit can produce more than 500m eggs a year.
The firm is ran by brothers Elwyn and Gareth Griffiths. The pair won Poultry Farmer of the Year in 2010.
