PETA billboards urge Super Bowl fans to go vegan

It has become a world-wide phenomenon and is the second largest day for US food consumption. Yes, it’s that time of year again when football fans everywhere pig-out and tune in to watch the Super Bowl.

With Super Bowl Sunday fast approaching the National Chicken Council (NCC) has estimated that more than 2.5 billion wing portions will be consumed over this weekend, totalling more than £100m.

But not if animal rights group PETA have anything to do with it! They have launched a billboard campaign in attempt to discourage Super Bowl fans from eating chicken wings during the game.

The billboards, which appear in the teams’ hometowns of New York and Boston, as well as Indianapolis, where the game is being hosted, feature cute, fuzzy chicks, with the slogan ‘let them keep their damn wings for one day, OK?’

PETA says 600m chickens are killed for their wings during the Super Bowl and are instead, encouraging fans to opt for vegan alternatives.
