Turkey awards open for entrants

It might be months until turkey is on the menu for many around the UK but the hard work is already beginning for producers with the industry’s awards for excellence open for entrants.



The British Turkey Federation’s 14th annual awards will cover 10 categories rewarding British producers in areas such as the taste of the meat, presentation of birds, suitability for consumers and innovation.


“We are looking for the best turkey products around – whether dressed whole birds for Christmas, convenient meal solutions or new innovations,” British Turkey Federation marketing committee member Matthew Pullen said.


Judging this year will partly be in the hands of the public with a member of the independent judging panel chosen by a national vote.


“It is the consumer who chooses, buys and eats the products so we believe it is right that a representative of these consumers should help judge the entries,” Mr Pullen said.
