Schedules out for National Dairy Event

Schedules are now available to cattle exhibitors for the National Dairy Show to be staged at Livestock Event on 3 and 4 July at The NEC, Birmingham.

This year’s show, organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers (RABDF), will feature free stall places to all exhibiting pedigree dairy cattle breeders. In addition, the cattle classes are relocating from Hall 16 – the standalone exhibition hall – to the heart of the event in Hall 17. This is one of the main trade halls located next to the genetics zone featuring the key suppliers, and is adjacent to the outdoor machinery. The hall offers a temperature-controlled environment.

“These new arrangements, which will enable livestock to be a great deal more prominent and enhance the experience for both visitors and exhibitors, have gained unanimous support for promotion from the UK’s seven breed societies,” explains RABDF chief executive Nick Everington.

“Overall, the National Dairy Show provides the best opportunity in the country for breeders to show their pedigree cows to commercial dairy farmers [who milk] 80% of the UK’s cows, along with international visitors; the 2012 event attracted representation from 22 countries,” he says.

The new arrangements include:

  • FREE stall places for 240 cows; the full £50 entry fee will be refunded to each exhibitor on every occupied stall
  • Silverware and prize money including the Bledisloe trophy for the best group
  • A temperature-controlled environment
  • First class milking facilities, wash down and accommodation areas relocated to just outside the new venue, making it the best equipped in the UK
  • Stockman’s accommodation space, with showers, available adjacent to the hall
  • Stockman’s catering at special discounted rates

Show schedules can be downloaded from Livestock Event

The closing date for stalls is 31 May and for entries, 14 June.
