Strong dairy trade at Gisburn Auction Mart

Continued demand for dairy cattle produced a buoyant trade, at Gisburn Auction Marts, last Thursday.

The star of the sale was the second lactation cow from Joe Holden, Bolton, which topped the sale at £2080. Selling to producer retailer, H Buckley and Son, Huddersfield.

In the final stages of their herd dispersal Messrs Watson, Ripon, achieved £1920, for a 30 days calved heifer, giving 36 litres. she sold to livestock agent Robin Boothman. The family’s next heifer under the hammer was 28 days calved, this time giving 30 litres, taking her home at £1820 was H Buckley and Son.

Raymond Johnson, Harrogate, was in the money when he sold three newly calved heifers at £1880, £1860 and £1700. Clitheroe farmer, William Slinger sold his seven days calved heifer for £1820 to Jim Frankland, Gisburn.
