Vortex Downtown semen set for use by Australian dairy farmers

LM120403-03 Vortex Downtown.jpgA substantial order of Vortex Downtown semen has been dispatched to Genetics Australia for use in Australian dairy herds this summer.

The order was received by Sterling Sires Ltd, and marks the first British Bull which is set to be progeny tested in Australia.

Vortex Downtown was born and bred by Tom and Alan King in Martinstown, Dorset. He is in the top 30 Genomically tested bulls in the world with a UK PLI of £206, and is reputed as the only British born and breed bull in the breed to offer over £205PLI, coupled with more than 1.5 on UK type and +3 Fertility Index. He has already been progeny tested in the UK by Sterling Sires and is attracting interest from many other countries.

Rob Derksen from Genetics Australia said: “We are delighted to be adding such a global superstar, who was born and bred in Britain, to our line-up this summer in Australia. He is in our new catalogue and has created massive interest. The Holstein breed needs production coupled with good type and high fertility; Downtown is a global leader in these traits.”
