Wool prices firm
THE FIRST Scottish wool sale of the year achieved a 72% clearance with prices generally remaining firm.
Just over 2m kg were auctioned on Jan 12 and some breeds achieved values 3% higher than at the last sale on Nov 10.
Cheviots were firm at an average of about 93p/kg and Scotch Blackfaces ranged from the mid 60s to 90p/kg, according to the British Wool Marketing Board.
