Cereals 2025: Maschio shows monster 10m Jumbo X power harrow

Growers with the horsepower, if not the implement, to beat up cloddy soil on a big scale can now do so with Maschio’s one-of-a-kind 10m power harrow.

The appropriately named Jumbo X weighs nearly 7.5t and needs pairing with a tractor of at least 450hp.

And the strain of spinning 40-odd rotors should get the engine barking once the 3.5m wings and 3m central section meet terra firma – especially if they’re plunged to their maximum 28cm working depth.

Power is funnelled through triple-jointed shafts and, to handle the extreme workload, the four gearboxes have a cooling system to avoid them cooking on long days.

Functions are controlled via Isobus, including the depth, position of the levelling bar and rear roller, and the telescoping wings that allow working width to be tweaked between 9m and 10m.

There’s also a hydraulic floating system that allows each section to follow ground contours and “automatic headland control”, which lifts the outer units slightly higher for end-of-bout turns.

As for transport between yard and field, the semi-mounted Jumbo X folds to 3.1m wide and 4m high, and runs on a pair of twin transport wheels integrated into the chassis.
