Cereals 2026: Charter Agri debuts cheap Ilgi cultivators
© James Andrews After returning from a 25-year stint in Poland running a John Deere, JCB and Spearhead dealership alongside a contract farming operation, Robin Charter has set up a machinery import and sales business in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.
His first suppliers herald from Turkey: Izelmak’s vertical beater muckspreaders, which are apparently similar to those of Joskin and Samson, and cultivators from Ilgi.

The latter already has a clandestine presence in the UK, as it builds implements for other manufacturers.
But Charter Agri will be selling the firm’s own-brand products, led by the Atego high-speed discs.
These semi-mounted tools are available in widths up to 12m as standard, or to 6m when specced with a hydraulically lowered crop cutter unit fore of the 560mm scalloped discs and rear press.
According to Robin, steel quality is no different to the main brands and spares, such as the SKF bearings, are readily available through regular parts distributors.
List price of a fully loaded 6m Atego is £31,500, which undercuts the competition by as much as 30%.
Alternatively, there’s the Apollo and its combination of heavy-duty tines, levelling discs and press roller.
It weighs 5.5t in 6m guise and is priced at £34,500; 3m, 4m and 5m versions are also available.
