Firestone not tyre-d at Smithfield
TYRES HAVE never been the most photogenic of show exhibits, which perhaps explains why the long-running tradition of using blonde beauties to increase their appeal continues.
Firestone has launched what it describes as a heavy duty version of its R8000 radial tractor tyre.
The “severe service” variant uses a harder compound and reduced tread depth to increase wear resistance in harsh, rocky soil conditions.
According to the firm, it is particularly suited to soils of a high flint content where punctures and sidewall rips are a frequent occurrence.
Expect to pay a 5% premium on top of the price of a standard R8000 tyre.
