ScotGrass: Dual-use Liquido F provides additive and ballast

Farmers and contractors requiring an additive system for grass harvesting and a tractor front weight for field work might find both needs met by Pottinger’s Liquido F.

The Austrian firm rigged up its top-spec F 3000 ahead of a Jumbo 8400 on swath collection duty at ScotGrass.

At £9,500, it’s a pricey addition, due in part to its enlarged 400-litre plastic tank and higher-capacity pump.

It also comes with automatic rate control, adjusting the combined output of the four nozzles from 40 to 470 litres/hour according to forward speed.

For those with a more modest budget, there’s the F 2000.

This makes do with a 225-litre tank and twin nozzles, mounted between the implement’s pick-up and intake rotor, that put out up to 245 litres/hour.

It costs £6,500 and, like its bigger brother, can be used ahead of forage wagons and balers from any brand.

Both add 1.15m to the length of the tractor and are between 2.25m and 2.85m wide depending on the position of the adjustable wings.

For their secondary calling as tractor ballast, the F 3000 weighs 1t empty and 1.5t when filled with water; respective figures for the F 2000 are 500kg and 1t.
