A new 3m shredder topper launched by Major Equipment claims to offer 25% more output than conventional flail machines and shave 30% off the cost of fuel.

The Major 3000 shredder topper is a heavy-duty grassland mower aimed particularly at dealing with set-aside, forestry margin management areas and sensitive environmental scrubland.

With an optional bullet system incorporated from the Major Maze mower design, the machine can also tackle tough conditions such as arable land, maize, rapeseed and shrub clearing.

The shredder has three cutting rotors and can be mounted front or rear. The new swinging blade and under-sole anti-scalping disc is said to provide protection for the gearboxes and drive system. Power requirement is 85-120hp and the cost is £8,750.
