To make good use of a tractor’s front linkage when pumping slurry, Wox Agri Services has introduced the Tempest C.

This reeler and compressor combination can carry 600m of 6in pipe while generating 400cfm of air flow at 10-bar pressure.

Like the firm’s regular Tempest reeler, it has a fixed bobbin with a fully integrated gearbox and hydraulic drive.

However, a new headstock has been fitted which makes room for a toothed belt that transfers power from the tractor’s front pto to the side-mounted Rotorcomp screw compressor.

In typical Wox fashion, it’s built to last, with galvanised steel framework and folded stainless-steel covers. And thanks to some neat packaging, the whole outfit sits at just 2.7m wide.

Safety has also been carefully considered with swaged pipe fittings and warning lights for pressure, temperature, oil level and air filter blockages.

There are vertical guide rollers on either side too, plus a bar housing indicators, flashing lights and work lights. Retail price of the Tempest C unit is £29,000.

The example pictured here is teamed with the firm’s rear pto-driven Walrus pump unit.

This comes with the option of Cornell, Doda or Bauer centrifugal pumps and has a hydraulic charge pump to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of cavitation.

An integrated hydraulic system ensures there’s plenty of oil flow to run this, leaving the tractor’s supply to concentrate on moving the feeder arm and jetter, as well as operating a primer pump and integrated pressure washer.

Slurry flow is managed by 16 bar-rated pneumatic slice valves and there’s a sponge launcher for cleaning out pipes. Retail price of the Walrus pto pump unit is £90,000.
