15th swine fever case confirmed
By FWi staff
A FIFTEENTH case of swine fever in East Anglia has been confirmed by MAFF.
The confirmation of the outbreak on a central Norfolk farm means precautionary movement restrictions already in place around it will remain for a number of weeks.
This will increase the pressure on affected farmers.
The pigs on the farm had already been slaughtered on 21 September.
Restrictions were imposed on the farm prior to confirmation because it was deemed to have had “dangerous contact” with the disease.
It had received pigs from an infected unit.
