2700gns bid for Limousin at reduction
A BIG reduction of Limousin cattle from the Lakeside herd produced a top bid of 2700gns.
The sale was for John Vickers, who is submitting the tenancy of his Howside Farm, Ennerdale, Cumbria.
The call came from J S Gibson and Son, Hexham, to claim the calved heifer Lakeside Jane. Sired by the Haltcliffe Aristocrat son Ryedale Goya, she was sold with a promising spring-born heifer calf by Broadmeadows Cannon and was served by Lodge Marvel.
In-calf to Goya and making 2200gns to D and S L Wilson, Workington, was Lakeside Isobel, a Summerlea Dacha sired second calver.
Another fourth calver by the same bull made 2100gns to Peter and Anne Lang, Helmsley, North Yorks.
The sale included the entire summer-calving portion of the Stockdales herd for G Stockdale and Partner, Brampton, Cumbria, which sold to 1000gns for a heifer and calf.
AVERAGES: Lakeside – 11 cows £1586, 13 heifers £1631. Stockdales – nine cows £758. (Harrison and Hetherington.)
