Another go at banning hunting?

DEPUTY Prime Minister John Prescott has hinted at another attempt to put an anti-hunting bill on the statute book.

He described as “rubbish” claims that legislation had been shelved for the rest of the parliamentary session.

It is believed the Cabinet is divided over a future bill. Jack Straw, the Home Secretary, is thought to have played a role in blocking parliamentary time for a bill to be passed.

Mr Prescott leads a group which believes the Labour Party has a manifesto commitment to the change.

A Private Members Bill to ban hunting, sponsored by Mike Foster, Labour MP for Worcester, failed earlier this year.
