Gertie is not a regular Saddleback, but she is happy to dress the part to support the fund raising on Marie Curie Cancer Care Daffodil Day (Mar 15). Her "saddle" is made of fabric flowers, the kind that collectors will be handing out to those who make donations to this worthy charity. They hope to hand out 7m blooms this year and raise £3m to help the charity continue its work which includes practical nursing care for cancer patients in their own homes; hospice care and support for families; research into cancer

prevention, detection and treatment

and education for healthcare professionals.
