We have lift off… Rocket potatoes are harvested at David Jeffreys Trannack Farm, Heamoor, near Penzance. The crop will be marketed through newly-formed consortium, Cornish Potatoes Ludgvan (see p22). Lifting has got off to an unusually early start this season with 116ha (285 acres) already cleared. Yields so far have averaged 13t/ha (5.3t/acre), making an average price of £383/t.
