Amazingly low prices… Maize continues to be worth far less than a year ago. Auctions earlier this week saw standing crops worth about £42/ha (£170/acre). Thats about half the figure of 12 months ago, according to Wright-Manley auctioneer Andrew Wallace. Plentiful fodder supplies and lower milk prices are contributing. "Everyone knows the price is low and that it is good value but nobody has any room for it in the clamp. Its not that maize is in bad condition – I dont think Ive seen a poor crop this year," says Mr Wallace.
