Latest US-specification machine to undergo European evaluation work is this Case drill. Built at Fargo, North Dakota, the Case Concord pneumatic cultivator drill is being put through its paces at Velcourts Taylor Farm, Pickworth, Lincs. The 10m (32.8ft) wide machine uses coulters set at 25cm (10in) spacings, with each coulter planting seed in a 12.5cm (5in) band. The seed hopper is towed behind the cultivator drill, to help keep excess weight off the machine. Drilling winter barley, output is reckoned to be 7.5ha/hour (18 acres/hour).
