IVE heard that Ascochyta levels are up – what should I do protect next years winter bean crops?
IT has run riot this summer. Anyone saving seed should have it tested ( PGRO or NIAB). If there is more than 2-3% infection, dont use that seed, it can wipe out half the yield. Weve seen crops with 15% infection this year. The most resistant varieties are Striker and Clipper. A thiabendazole with thiram (Hy-Vic) seed treatment could be a good insurance.
