With calf and staff, nine-year-old Luke Thomas from Launceston, Cornwall, won the childrens calf handling competition at last weeks Beef and Sheep South West at Shepton Mallet, Somerset. This was a busy day on the Royal Bath and West Showground. The champion live heifer, meanwhile, made 416.6p/kg (grossing £2000). And in the Yeovil Fatstock show, incorporated in this event, the champion steer went for 192p/kg (£1133).
