North Sheep 2000, at Alnwick, attracted 8000 visitors, many of these queued to take a tour of the Duke of Northumberlands Hulne Park Farm, which runs a 2400-ewe commercial sheep enterprise and 330-cow suckler herd. The main flock of Mules is crossed with Suffolk, Charollais and Texel tups. The 400-ewe Blackface flock has historically produced Mule replacements, but this is being phased out with replacements now being bred at another of the estates nine farms.
