Wroot Water Systems has developed an automated irrigation tape retrieval system which, it claims, saves a significant amount of time when compared to the more usual manual approach. Two variable speed, hydraulically driven cones pick up the looped end of two rows of tape and then wind it in as the tractor moves up the row. When full of tape a hydraulic ram separates the cones to allow the tape to be deposited on the ground. Wroot Water Systems says it intends to have several machines available for hire this year.
