Farmers markets are on an upward trend

Success stories are few and far between in agriculture. But one notable exception is the rapid growth of farmers markets.

To give them a further boost, September has been designated Farmers Market Month. Live music, food tasting, cookery demonstrations and competitions will run alongside normal market activities across the country.

The initiative deserves the whole-hearted support of the farming community. Make sure you get to your local event. Encourage your friends to do likewise. Why not find out about setting up your own stall?

Farmers are often being told to do more to help themselves. Farmers Markets Month provides them with just such an opportunity.
