SPEARHEAD claims to have filled the gap in its hedgecutter range by introducing a compact model with diminutive dimensions – the Excel 320.
Built for tractors from 25hp to 40hp, the hedgecutter can be specified with a 94cm wide flail-head with dual-purpose flails, or a 1.5m reciprocating cutter bar.
The cutter bar is designed to trim hedges up to 4.6m high and branches over 60mm thick, while a compact control unit is designed to make the most of available space in confined tractor cabs.
Use of two pto-powered pumps enables the hedgecutter to work independently of the tractors hydraulics, and parallel arm geometry ensures the cutting head remains at a constant angle.
For protection, the Excel 320 has a mechanical linkage which is simple in design, says Spearhead. The linkage is intended to lift the cutting clear of obstructions and automatically return it when the obstacle has been cleared.
