Auctioneers braced to face the worst

AUCTIONEERS are getting ready to face the tough times that have already befallen the hill-farming community, reports The Herald.

One sign of the times is the news that Scotlands largest auctioneering firm United Auctions is altering its payment terms. Those selling stock will have to wait three days for their cheques instead of leaving the market with the money in hand.

The paper reports that another sign was a “decidedly restrained” show at Uniteds annual round of Blackface ram sales in Perth.
