A TOP price of 9400gns brought the years major Holstein sales to a close at the 13th Borderway Black and White sale, Carlisle.

The Riverdane Holstein herd, in partnership with David Mason, brought a stylish 12-month-old heifer up from Cheshire and sold her for the days second highest price of 9000gns. Topmark Rudolph Beauty is a grand daughter of this years World Dairy Expo Grand Champion Rainybridge Tony Beauty and out of a VG (2yr) Astre heifer. Buyers were Messrs Barker for their herd at Groby Lodge Farm, Leics.
Hall Brothers made a second sizeable investment with a 7800gns call to claim Stardale Marty Lauren 2nd from Lancashire breeders Jim and Robert Burrow and J and * Shadwick. This six-month-old heifer calf has a PIN + £112 and was the first descendent of Rivercrest Luke Lauren to be offered in the UK. This cow family is internationally renowned for producing high TPI and high protein sires – it has six bulls in the worlds top 50 TPI list. (Harrison and Hetherington).
