Blair Government ‘costs farming jobs’, says Dalgety MD
THE Governments confrontational approach to farmers is putting thousands of jobs at risk in the agricultural and food industries, warned Tony Taylor, managing director of Dalgety Group, Britains largest agricultural company, yesterday.
He said that “toughing it out with farmers who are demanding help with severe financial conditions was not working and many producers are within weeks of bankruptcy”.
He called on the Prime Minister to recognise the value of the farming industry to the national economy.
