Claas to present trio
Claas to present trio
of mower conditioners
THREE new spreader mower conditioners will be available from Claas for the forthcoming silage season.
Based on the companys Disco mower range, two are tractor mounted with working widths of 2.6m and 3m while the third is a trailed model with a working width of 3m.
A feature of the Disco Crop Spreader, says Claas, is the pivoting spreader hood, which, when raised, disengages the spreader and allows the mower to leave a conventional swath. This provides the mower with a dual mode of operation, says the company and could avoid the need for a second mower system.
Cutting discs receive their drive via gears running at 750rpm, a relatively slow speed, which is claimed to reduce wear. Once cut, the crop passes through the conditioner unit which employs offset V-shaped steel tines. Conditioning intensity is adjusted by altering the angle of the intake. Spread width is controlled by adjustable deflector vanes fitted to the spreader hood.
Prices of the tractor mounted Disco 260 SPR and 300C SPR mowers are £7000 and £7600. *
