Co-op campaigners join Milk Group

By FWi staff

THE Milk Group has co-opted four well-known campaigning dairy farmers to boost its drive to recruit more members.

The four have already persuaded hundreds of direct-supply producers to return to dairy co-ops.

Chairman and vice-chairman of the Association of Milk Producers, Bev Baker and Jeremy Jackson; the Federation of Milk Producers John Loftus ( who recently joined the Milk Group); and John Grantchester of the South West Cheshire Dairy Association have become farmer directors.

They hope to help secure an extra 1 billion litres of milk a year.

That would boost the Milk Groups annual milk supply to almost 2bn litres, about 14% of the raw milk market.
