Concession is made on form

AFTER sending another cull cow for slaughter under the over-30-month scheme, North Yorks dairy farmer Geoff Bean has made a minor concession to what he calls "pedantic, petty officialdom".

Having described his status on an earlier form as "poverty stricken", he was told by the Intervention Board that the form could not be processed because the status of the producer differed from the status of the signatory.

This time he has described his status as "poverty stricken owner", which he hopes will satisfy the officials.
