CONSUMER safety will be the overriding concern during a Food Standards Agency review of the Over Thirty Month (OTM) rule, agency chairman Sir John Krebs told a public meeting on the subject.
About 120 delegates attended the event in London on Tuesday (Jul 2). They were also addressed by NFU Scotland president Jim Walker and British Meat Federation director Peter Scott.
The agency expects to complete the review on the rule, which keeps meat from older cattle out of the food chain, by early 2003. *
