Disease recovery credit on offer
By FWi staff
LIVESTOCK farmers wanting to rebuild their businesses in the wake of foot-and-mouth disease can receive financial support through a hire-purchase facility, provided by Coventry-based finance company Agricredit.
Open to all farmers, the scheme provides advances to 80% of current market valuations, with payments spread over 24 months for sheep and pigs, 36 months for dairy stock and 48 months for suckler cows.
While repayments are monthly in the case of dairy cows and pigs, repayments for sucklers and sheep can be weighted to coincide with sales.
“Since the foot-and-mouth outbreak, we have been working to support farmers, initially through help to overcome short-term cashflow and profitability problems.
“This new initiative will help livestock farmers plan and realise their business needs at the end of the tunnel,” said managing director Paul McCarthy.
