Disposal firm fined for slurry pollution
A KINGTON waste disposal firm has been fined a total of £3270 for polluting a local brook with slurry.
The case, brought by the Environment Agency, followed the pollution of Yazor Brook, a tributary of the River Wye, at Credenhill, Herefordshire, last June.
Leominster Magistrates Court heard that the defendant, Mayglothing Waste Disposal, had been contracted to empty a slurry lagoon at Ladybank Dairy, Credenhill, and to spread the slurry on adjoining fields.
The firm was fined £1000 and ordered to pay £2270 costs. *
