Drought kills off GMdemo

DROUGHT has robbed the Cereals 97 event of its genetically modified oilseed rape demonstration (Arable, Apr 18).

Emergence of both conventional and transgenic spring rape varieties was so badly hit that there will be no spring rape crops to demonstrate to visitors in June.

The display was part of the European FACTT (Familiarisation with and Acceptance of Crops incorporating Trangenic Technology) initiative.
