Early lamb sales take off rapidly

MORE than 200 lambs have been sold less than a week after FARMERS WEEKLY launched its Lamb Ban Beater campaign.

FW and leading producer-run meat initiative Farmers First have joined forces to promote the sale of light lambs sourced from throughout Britain.

Readers are being asked to eat for Britain and buy whole or half lambs which will be delivered direct to their door by courier.

Each order will include a donation to the ARC-Addington Fund which is providing emergency financial help to those hit by the foot-and-mouth crisis.

"We are delighted that this campaign to reduce the surplus of light lambs has got off to such a flying start with orders from throughout the UK," said FW Editor Stephen Howe.

The appeal to FW and FWi readers will be strengthened by 0.75m readers each week from Horse&Hound, Country Life and leading regional newpaper Western Morning News which are supporting the initiative.
