Easy-spread butter to boost dairy sales?

BRITAINS first low-temperature spreadable butter is expected to make its market debut next spring.

It is hoped that the development will halt the decline in butter consumption and boost dairy farmers incomes by gaining a slice of the £728 million-a-year yellow-fats market.

The new butter is rumoured to be based on work sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture at the ADAS Bridgets Research Unit in Hampshire.

Researchers have apparently identified the use of spring grass, together with the addition of balancing vegetable oils and Vitamin E, as key ingredients.
