FIRST-QUALITY dairy cattle were a firmer trade at last weeks sale for the North Western Holstein Friesian Breeders Club than at the previous offering.
Jeremy Millingtons freshly-calved second calver Cloyhall Mascot Sweet, from his herd at Oswestry, Salop, had the milk and type to draw bids to 3200gns from the full ringside at Crewe.
Bred out of a Whiitier-Farms Ned Boy cow, she had just gone VG86 and gave 10,300kg with her first calf producing a milk income of £2924.
She was giving 51kg on the day of sale and was claimed by William Hamilton and Sons, Perthshire.
Derby-based vendors E and M Scott sold a Lutz Meadows E Mandel calved heifer at 2000gns to an undisclosed bidder. The Scotts Escott Pocahontas is out of the 13,000kg Blackstar cow Clover-Mist Black Peach.
Bulls peaked at 1100gns for Wintersell Solero from The Downing Partnership, Edenbridge, Kent. This Mascot son is out of the 13,800kg Hayleys Sapphire 5th.
