A COUPLE who bought a farm in France through an advert in
FARMERS WEEKLY feature in a BBC documentary on Wednesday (23 May).

Disillusioned with the state of UK farming, Sussex farmers Yo and David Holland decided to take advantage of grants and interest rates in France.

The Hollands put their life savings into a farm in the Limoges region after seeing it advertised in the FARMERS WEEKLY Property For Sale section.

They went ahead with this even though they did not speak French, had never been to France and learned that nearly 50% of British farmers fail in France.

French bureaucracy, BSE, freezing winter weather, language problems and even a vicious Rotweiller are just some of the problems the Hollands face.

These trials and tribulations during their first year in France are recorded by the BBC 2 series Trouble At The Top.

The Trouble at the Top film, entitled Field of Dreams, goes out on BBC 2 at 9pm.
