EU policies ‘threaten Europe’s wildlife’
EUROPEAN farm and regional development plans will have a “catastrophic” impact on Europes wildlife, environmentalists predict.
Birdlife International, which includes the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, told Euro MPs in Strasbourg that urgent changes were needed to the European Commissions Agenda 2000 farm reform package to protect wildlife and rural jobs.
The group said unspoilt havens in eastern Europe could also be damaged unless policies were changed.
